Players and tournament organizers need fast at-the-door registration, and esports communities need accurate data. To tackle both of these needs head-on, we’re beefing up the tools available to everyone for managing attendance.

Attendee Confirmation is one of our new features for managing your attendance

For Tournament Organizers

We made it easier to add attendees to your events

We rebuilt our add attendee flow from the ground up to make it painless to get people into your events:

  • It’s easier to find the person you’re adding with our improved player search.
  • Have a need for speed? We tuned the process to be as quick as a search and one click for adding another player… and another… and another.
  • Player showed up and doesn’t have an account? Include their email when you add them, and they’ll be able to complete their account later, on their own time!
Check “copy event details” to add another attendee with the same pass and events pre-selected!

The results of your events matter

Esports communities need accurate data. As a tournament organizer, you’ve carried a large responsibility in ensuring every player you add is the correct person (and sometimes players don’t even have accounts). Starting now, we’re letting both tournament organizers and players share that responsibility.

  • Attendee Confirmation: When you add a player with an account to your tournament, they will receive a request to confirm their attendance. When the player responds, you’ll be notified- if it’s the wrong player, then you can change them out for the correct player!
After adding attendees, you can view the status of the confirmation requests sent to those players!
  • Account Invite: When you add a player without an account, you’ll have the option to include an email address. The player will then be able to create their player account at their convenience and it will already include their results from your event!
  • Attendee Claim (*coming soon): When a player does not have an account (and you don’t enter their email when adding them), they may eventually make an account. Then, they can send you a request to claim their results in your events from when they played without an account.

If you have ideas for how to make our attendee management experience even faster, please let us know in this survey!

For Players

Confirming your tournament attendance

Players can view all of their requests to confirm their attendance

If you have an account but didn’t pre-register for a tournament, and a tournament organizer adds you, you will now receive a request to confirm your attendance. If you were added to a tournament and you notice that you didn’t receive a request, then the TO probably added the wrong person- please speak to the tournament organizer so that they can correct this! Or, if you receive a request for a tournament which you did not attend/are not attending, please reject it promptly so that the TO can quickly correct their mistake.

Your results matter

We want you to feel confident in your competitive results being complete and accurate.

  • Attendee Confirmation: As we just mentioned, you will receive a notification for a request to confirm your attendance when a tournament organizer adds you to their events. All of your past tournament attendance, where you were added by a tournament organizer, is considered unverified. Please log in and visit your Requests page to verify your attendance at these tournaments!
  • Account Invite: If you don’t have an account and show up to an event, then the admin may ask you for your email address while they add you. If you give it to them and they enter it with your gamertag, then we will send you an email inviting you to create an account. Whenever you have time later, you can follow the directions in the email to set up your player account and it will already include your results from that event!
  • Public Player Profiles (coming in the future): we want your profile on smash.gg to serve as your résumé in esports. You should not only be able to verify that your results are correct, but also ensure that you aren’t missing any results. That’s why we’re in addition to attendee confirmation, we’ll be introducing Attendee Claim, where you can claim the results if an organizer added you to a bracket without using your actual smash.gg account. You’ll send a request to claim it, and tournament organizers will respond.

If you have feedback and ideas for our attendee management experience, please let us know in this survey!
