Tournament Registration Redesign & Guest Checkout for Spectators

We’ve given a complete visual overhaul to tournament registration, and we’ve also added the ability for folks to check out as a guest when buying a spectator pass for a tournament. Tell your family and friends: they won’t need to make an account to come watch the next event you’re competing in!

New look, new layout!

We realized that if we wanted to make a better tournament registration experience, both for competitors and for spectators, then we needed to make some particular changes:

• You’ll only see the steps that you need! For example, if you’re competing in an online event and there’s just one free pass to choose, then you won’t see a pass selection step. (see below: it’s fast)
• For offline events, pass selection is now the first step. Previously, you would enter information and then select a pass. With this change, we can build smoother experiences for each person who’s registering.
• Editing your choices on each step is clean & easy. Feel free to jump between your different selections in registration and edit any information you want- we’ll remember what you entered on each step in case you change your mind.

Persistent cart for checkout

You’ll notice that we now have a cart for your registration no matter how far you are in registration. This will let you clearly keep track of what you’re adding every step of the way.

As you make changes in registration, your cart will update immediately.

Merch in its own section

Previously, you may have seen organizers including event merchandise in various ways in registration. Now, we’ve provided a special step for organizers who have added shop merch into their tournament registration. (Organizers: please contact our support team for more info!)

Guest Checkout for Spectators

We’ve received a great deal of feedback from our communities asking for an easier, faster checkout experience for spectators. We agree, and this update includes our first steps towards that. Now, when you select a spectator pass on a tournament where one is available, you’ll notice that you won’t be required to make an account to complete checkout (you’re still welcome to!). Important notes:

• Guest spectators will not be able to compete in events
• Guest spectators will receive their registration information (including a confirmation #) via email. Using this, they can provide their confirmation number to the tournament organizers at the door.
